My father-in-law who has been living with us for 3 ½ years was diagnosed with Colon Cancer when he first arrived. The prognosis was grim, death within 3 to 18 months with an operation that would keep him bed ridden forever or die sooner without the operation. Now he is 87 years old and very set in his ways so he decided not to have the procedure and to live his remainder of time with his wife in a more peaceful setting rather then be stuck in a bed.
Walla, this is where my wife Thelma stepped in. Being a fervent naturalist and owner of Healthlivingwithnaturalsupplements.com she immediately began making changes in his lifestyle. He would now eat more nutritious foods and would supplement with Natural Supplements known to have positive results in combating cancer. Initially he was taking a ton of prescription drugs for a host of medical problems in addition to the cancer. However, over the 3 ½ span he has completely weaned himself off all drugs.
We don’t know if the cancer is in remission or simply went away. He refuses to see those quack doctors who wanted to do the easy fix and operate on him and stick him in a bed until he died.
Today he cares for his wife who also lives with us. My mother-in-law has a similar story to tell……perhaps another time.
Work eight plus hours a day at your job come home do a few chores and set your butt in front of the boob tube until bedtime. Sound familiar? This sort of lifestyle permeates our society.
Look, you can do what you want with your life but please don’t cry to me or your fellow citizen when some bad disease or ailment strikes your body. Your sedimentary lifestyle will eventually result in your demise.
Get off your easy chair and do something! You do not have to run marathons or join a health club but you do need to get the body moving. How about starting with TV commercials, whenever a commercial comes on do some calisthenics. Set up a schedule of say ten different exercises and then rotate between them. This way you can have your cake and eat it too. TV and exercise become harmonize.
Another easy way to get some exercise is to use stairs instead of the elevator or escalator. Park your car further away at your destination rather then parking as close as possible to the door.
When doing household chores don’t always look for the easiest way to get the job done instead opt to use the most physical way, this will allow your body to burn calories, stretch muscles, and gain strength.
I’m certain you can come up with many more easy to implement exercises and ways to get your body moving. All it takes is some motivation and some personal butt kicking.
I have no health insurance policy whatsoever. I haven’t been really been sick at any point of my 64 years. I did purchase some health insurance some years back for me and the misses but after not using it for we both decided that the money (A LOT!) could be better used elsewhere.
So you probably think we’re crazy, right? Well allow me to explain. We decided to establish our very own health insurance policy. We implemented a healthy lifestyle by eating properly, exercising, living free of drugs, no processed foods, drinking clean pure water, breathing pollution free air and living a life full of youthful activities.
That isn’t all we did to assure our good health. Supplementation is a big part of our health success. Not just any supplements mind you, only quality herbal organic natural supplements when available.
A major reason for creating healthylivingwithnaturalsupplements.com was to establish a destination whereby anyone could go to find only the best supplements available.
This year I turn 65 chronologically although I feel and look much younger (so I’m told). I suppose I will reluctantly have to buy some form of health insurance at that time. Call me crazy but that should be my decision and not the governments call. Well be that as it may I will continue on with my self prescribed health insurance and be a very happy camper.
Don’t go through life depending on someone else to take care of your health needs. It is your body, your health, take command and live life to the fullest. Enjoy!
No secret how to do this, it is simple to implement but hard to stay with it. Most people want a quick fix for their problems, consequently their easy half hearted solutions reflect negatively in the long haul. So if you want to stay younger longer and expect a miracle face cream or a pill you can take you’ll be miserable to know that no such product exists.
I’ve been preaching this for years to anyone who would listen, so here it is once again.
The commitment to staying young starts when your young although beginning at any age is a good thing. This is no flipped resolution but a life long commitment to a healthy lifestyle. I personally refuse to allow age to dictate what I can or cannot do, can’t is not an option. My mind is set in stone, there is no wavering and no room for compromise. If you fail to have this determination you will fail and be like 97% of the rest of the worlds people.
Physically I am what I was at 25, although I am now approaching 65. I never stopped doing the things I did when I was a kid, things like running, jumping, climbing trees, wrestling, sports etc. The mind tells the body that you are young and the body responds. Age is a seed planted in our brain as we are taught at any early age that we are going to get old and our physical abilities will be seriously diminished. As far as I’m concerned that is pure unadulterated BUNK!
The rest of my staying young formula is relative simplistic. Eat wholesome (organic) food, drink clean water, do not take pharmaceutical drugs, supplement, laugh often, and exercise by playing hard.
Get off the fast track to aging by renewing your spirit with positive thinking and doing so you too can have a youthful body regardless of your age.
When I was a kid my family had a family doctor as all families did. Whatever the problem short of a serious accident off you went to see the ‘Doc’ in our case Dr. Good. (no kidding) If you were too ill to climb in the car and make the trek to the good doctor he would make a home visit. I remember many times being sick and doc Good coming into my bedroom and opening that big leather bag full of wondrous stuff. He had a long moustache that he waxed and curled toward his lip. He was a pleasant, happy kind of fellow who always tried to make you laugh even though he was pushing a needle in my romp.
Times sure have changed, now it’s clinics and emergency rooms with each doctor specializing in one or two medical fields. In our area unless you need immediate medical attention and go to the emergency room at the hospital to see a specialist usually means getting on a waiting list or making an appointment weeks down the road.
I looked through our local Yellow Pages for a family physician that wasn’t employed by a clinic and I couldn’t find one. I suppose there are some private family doctors still around and maybe a few even make house calls, but surely not many.
Naturopathic doctors are a different breed of physician. These people are trained to treat the whole person. If you are lucky enough to have a naturopathic doctor in your area I suggest you consider making one of these remarkable people your ‘Family Doctor’. They usually have a private practice or are teamed up with fellow naturopaths.
It has been my experience that these professionals genuinely care about your health. Rather then treating the symptom they treat the body with wholesome foods, exercise, supplementation and various alternative holistic methods. These people are about healing not getting you hooked on prescription drugs. Nice touch don’t you think!
I’m very healthy, thank God, but on occasion I don’t feel well and I need to know what is wrong with me. Now granted we are only talking about things like a stomachache or a particularly bad headache this applies to symptoms of any kind.
I will instinctively search the internet or some of the medical books that are available to ascertain to some degree what the heck is ailing me. Invariably I turn to a natural health website to get my info knowing that I will only consume natural supplements. Usually I can find what my health problem is and take the proper supplement to bolster my body in a particular area. Symptoms much more serious may require immediate medical attention. I’m 64 and never had to go to a doctor for a diagnosis but there will come a time I will need to see a doctor. I will at that time ask a doctor to diagnosis my symptoms. After a diagnosis I will thank the good doctor(‘s) and be on my way. I will not accept any prescription drugs. This will probably put the staff in a state of disbelief . I may seek consultation from a qualified homeopathic doctor but definitely I will find out what nutrients I am lacking and start my own plan to recovery.
Of course life threatening illness may require immediate surgery and supplements aren’t going to help that very moment but after surgery supplements play a key role in recovery and for long term good health.
Every disease is manifested by a serious vitamin/mineral deficiency. If your immune system was always healthy and allowed to fight off disease, it would, and you would never get sick, I mean really sick. A strong immune system will easily thwart virus from setting up shop and giving you the common cold and flu.
Doctors play a vital role in emergency situations and in diagnosing symptoms but sadly they do little in creating an environment where your body can heal itself. As we all know prescription drugs treat symptoms and not the disease.
I practice Self Diagnosis and encourage everyone to do so rather running to the emergency room for every little thing. You know (or suspect) that something just isn’t right and need to seek a professional but for most aches and pains and such be your very own doctor. Quality Natural Supplements heal your body and preserve vital organs so you can live longer and not suffer bad health along the way. To Your Health!
I’m often asked; What is the most important factor in gaining and maintaining good health. My response usually comes as a surprise. There are many pieces of the ‘Good Health Pie’, and placed all together they equal the ‘Natural Solution’ to good health. We all know what these pieces are, we have heard them a thousand times; Eat healthy; Drink clean water; Exercise; Supplement, etc.. However, unless you have one strategic ingredient in place you will fail miserably.
The most important factor in your quest for good health is ‘Self Determination’.
Establish a lifestyle that is conducive to good health with an unwavering commitment to achieve your ultimate goal. Ultimately your success hinges on your ‘Self Determination’ and steadfastness. Everything begins with your psyche and how emotionally and mentally balanced you are.
In other words, the question is; How bad do you want good health? If you want it enough to make the necessary changes permanent, then perhaps you will succeed. So, before you begin a ’Health Program’ get your brain geared up for the challenge and the rest will follow with relative ease.
Look, I am a real sportsman who loves to play the game but let’s get real, the Super Bowl has become a religious holiday for many.
The hype leading up to the game is like an epic movie production with non stop interviews, ‘expert’ opinions, Hollywood produced TV commercials, celebrity entertainment and on and on.
What ever happened to just two teams playing the game and letting the ball wobble where it will?
People treat Super Bowl Sunday as if it were a national holiday, a good reason to have a party, get drunk and stuff your face with pizza and snacks.
For me the Super Bowl is a game between the two best pro football teams in America, nothing more nothing less. I enjoy the sport as I do most sports but I do not get all excited about the hoopla. Let me sit in a room by myself and enjoy the game, after all it is just a game.
If government is going to act as a scientific arbiter, it needs to have clean hands. That means getting private commercial interests out of the decision-making process.
In this week’s vitamin D update, we discussed the glaring conflict of interest in the recent IOM report on vitamin D. Unfortunately this is not an isolated case. Consider also the recent fluoride debacle.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention calls fluoride in drinking water “one of the ten great public health achievements of the 20th century,” except earlier this month they stated that the levels they previously mandated are too high, and HHS and EPA are taking steps to prevent excessive exposure to it. Children’s teeth are getting pitted and turning black or brown from dental fluorosis. An increasing number of scientists and health professionals argue that fluoride exposure has a negative impact on the whole body, including joint pain, hypothyroidism, kidney and liver damage, and the possibility of bone cancer.
What led to the high fluoride levels initially recommended? The government was spurred on by private interests wanting to sell it—fluoride is a by-product from the aluminum smelting process! This is often the problem: private interests influencing the government at the people’s expense. It’s crony capitalism at its most destructive.
This approach is especially worrisome with regard to vaccines, especially flu vaccines. The government has increasingly become a full partner with pharmaceutical companies in the production of vaccines, which creates a huge conflict of interest: government produces, distributes, recommends, evaluates, requires by law in the case of kids, and then judges the results. No wonder the government won’t tell us how many cases of flu occur in vaccinated individuals. Apparently it doesn’t think that information is worth gathering. No wonder. It is likely to be very embarrassing.
We need to stop the censorship of scientific evidence—it’s the only way the truth will come out. Dr. Andrew Wakefield, the author of the controversial British study linking autism and vaccines, was accused this month by the British Medical Journal of perpetrating an elaborate fraud. It was an undeniably small study—only twelve patients. And while his basic premise still has support, there has been a concerted effort to destroy Dr. Wakefield and make anyone afraid to touch the issue for the foreseeable future.
Wakefield’s study should absolutely be criticized, but in an open, collegial, and academic manner. Don’t like the results? See procedural errors? Fine, but the answer is to do more scientific research on the subject, not less. Do more studies, with a broader patient sampling! This is what the peer-review process—the whole scientific method—is all about. If the MMR vaccine is safe for children, then demonstrate it. The treatment of Dr. Wakefield is too much like the Salem Witch trials for our comfort.

Did you hear about the woman who has no fear? Yes, evidently researchers have been studying her for 20 years to discover what causes this anomaly.
Well as it turns out she is missing her amygdala a part of the brain. So she has been kind enough to loan her body for study out of the goodness of her heart. I think not, but that’s just me, maybe I can find a study that I can sign on to, lets say for 10 years at $30,000 per year.
You see I have this anomaly that uncannily allows me to see right through scams and frauds. And since I am so generous I’ll even allow some quack to probe my mind………that is if the price is right.
Poinsettias have been a bad rap over the years. It has been widely believed that poinsettias were poisonous if ingested, not so according to Ed Krenzelok, director of the Pittsburgh Poison Center.
“If a person were to ingest a large amount of leaves, it could cause an upset stomach,” he continues, “Most of the calls we get are when a child has eaten part of a leaf, and in cases like this there is no toxicity at all.”
the American Association of Poison Control Centers has apparently acknowledged that they received 1,100 calls in 2008 about human contact to poinsettias and only one caller had a moderate medical reaction, and 27 others had only a minor effect.
Additionally, animals particularly cats were thought to be in danger if they ate poinsettias, this is also false. According to Petside.com animals that ingest the plant could experience mild to moderate gastrointestinal irritation, medical treatment is usually not needed. If your pet eats some poinsettia leaves simply give them sips of milk or water. This will help to relieve an upset stomach.
Unlike the poinsettia, lilies are highly toxic so make sure to keep them from entering your home if you have young children or cats or dogs as indoor pets.
Here we go again, another study to conclude the obvious. This time, researchers at Appalachian State University in Kannapolis, N.C. conducted a study in which it followed 1,002 adults up to age 85 during two 12-week periods. The study involved aerobic exercise activity and its possible affect on the human immune system and how that may translate in reducing or suppressing the common cold.
After reading the long drawn out article I mercifully got to the end where in a half hearted admission, the researchers concluded that more data is needed and more studies but it seems that moderate exercise dose in fact inhibit cold formation. They did go into a string of possible reasons why this is a possibility but I won’t bore you with them.
The great revelation is finally revealed! Exercise is good for you and it may even suppress colds from forming. Don’t you love the obvious; It took some study conducted by a bunch of well funded researchers to point out what any fifth grader already knows.
Life must be good for the quacks who dished out the money to fund this fiascoes. Oh hold the boat, what if it was government funded in part or fully. I don’t know, I’m just saying.
Hey guys where do I sign up for your next study!
Seriously, where has common sense gone? Do we need to conduct a study for stuff that normal people know instinctively? I think not! Look it is quite simple and by the way I didn’t need a study for this conclusion. Exercise is good for you, DUH! I’ll even go out on a limb and say eating a healthful diet is good for you and that taking a good multi vitamin/mineral supplement is good for you too. I know I may have crossed the line but what the hey, if you folks want to fund me well I’m willing to conduct a study……….in HAWAII.
READ THE LABELS ON THE FOODS YOU BUY–NO MATTER WHAT THE FRONT OF THE BOX OR PACKAGE SAYS, TURN IT OVER AND READ THE BACK—CAREFULLY!
Many products no longer show where they were made, only give where the distributor is located. It is important to read the bar code to track its origin.
This may be useful to know when grocery shopping, if it’s a concern to you.

Do you remember when you were in high school and it seemed like a year was an eternity. We wanted so much to get to our senior year for then the end was near. Time went so slowly or so it seemed.
By the time we were 25 already the years were going by a little faster and people who we once thought of as old now began to appear as less aged. I remember when I reached 30, the world as I once new it changed for now I was no longer ‘young’.
I know this is not true that time is a constant but every person who has ever lived will tell you the older you get the faster time goes. Why is that, why this miss conception, why does time deceive us?
Life is likened to a rolling snowball, small at first with few burdens or cares, the further it travels the larger it gets collecting more problems, responsibilities, sorrows, death. Each life travels a path some are shorter than others but all paths eventually end. It has been said “Time is constant, Life is constantly about time”.
You may be very young, and you may feel as if you will live forever on this planet, be rest assured you will not. Take everyday as if it were your last, cherish the ‘slowness’ of the days while they last, for as sure as the sun rises and sets each day, the inner time pendulum will soon begin to swing in the other direction.
For you who are old and the burdens of life has slowed the preverbal snow ball to a sluggish pace, the years have melted away with cherished memories occupying much of your time. Only now you realize what could have been, the opportunities lost, relationships squandered, moments in time when you should have but you didn’t, lost forever along that path of life.
Regardless how young or old you are live each day with renewed love for life. Look for those opportunities, those relationships and when you can clearly see them eat them up like candy, cherish those moments, seek them out, it will make your walk down that path a little slower. When the end comes and it will, your life will have few regrets it will be fulfilled and you will be at peace with that inner clock that went so slowly, so very slowly your whole life through.
When I was a boy back in the 50’s we had a bunch of kids in our school classes that were a bit different than the rest of us. They were fidgety, always in motion, never sitting still and making weird noises. They were often the class clown who loved to play practical jokes. Some kids couldn’t focus on what the teacher was saying, their minds would wonder (day dream) off in many directions.
These kids weren’t marked as having an illness instead they were thought of as having high energy, easy to distraction, free spirits. A medical definition came much later (ADD/ADHD). As I remember, the kids that I new who were pigeon holed as having this disorder simply grew out of them. No medical treatments whatsoever, after all these kids were just being kids in their own way. After all, all kids are different, no two alike.
Is there such a disorder as ADD/ADHD? Perhaps, but please let us not stigmatize these kids who just don’t fit into the norm according to some medical professionals. If you have a child who exhibits ADD/ADHD symptoms, before you run to the doctor and have the threat of ADD/ADHD labeled on your child why not try a Natural Approach that may alleviate or cure your child. Your child may be lacking certain nutrients, need special learning techniques or require more parental attention and understanding.
My point is, don’t jump the gun and be quick to have your child diagnosed as having ADD/ADHD. Doctors invariably follow the road of least resistance. If a group of symptoms fall into a certain categorized ailment you are apt to be placed there. I was one of those kids back in the 50’s and never saw a doctor for what would be considered ADD/ADHD today. What happened to me was quite simple, I grew up and matured and learned to deal with life on my terms…..worked out pretty good, I’d say.
The National Osteoporosis Foundation purports that some 10 million Americans have osteoporosis with another 34 million having low bone mass and are at jeopardy of developing the disease.
In a new published study , 188 post-menopausal Moroccan women were assessed as for the role vitamin B12, folic acid, homocysteine (amino acid) and parathyroid hormone (bone metabolism) levels played in bone density. Bone mineral density is a factor in the diagnosis of osteoporosis and osteopenia (low bone mass). The study participants were given written questions to assess their individual risk of developing osteoporosis. In addition, bone density calculations were made using x-ray absorptiometry.
The study conductors generally concluded that osteoporosis was more common in women who were older, shorter in stature and weighed less, compared to women within the normal bone mineral density range. This conclusion was perhaps expected, however, the significant finding and indeed the most important showed that the women who already had osteoporosis also had an elevated homocysteine level. The women who did not have osteoporosis generally had lower homocysteine levels. Predictably, increased levels of homocysteine and decreased amounts of vitamin B12 were also directly linked to diminished bone mineral density in the spine and hip.
This study in my estimation, gives us no new revelation, however, since it is a verifiable research study conducted by health professionals it does offer credence to what the natural health establishment already new.
As always, first and foremost, eat a healthy diet free of processed food and burnt animal fat, eat primarily organic vegetables, fruit and hormone free meat that has not been genetically altered. Drink 8 glasses of clear spring water everyday and breathe in clean air and with the help of a quality natural supplement program you’ll be on your way to better health. Oh yes and don’t forget to get your body moving, have fun, enjoy life!

Pancreatic diseases are now some of the most dangerous and potentially fatal challenges to the public’s health.
Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of death in America and is a viciously quick killer. Diabetes of course is a pancreatic condition when not enough insulin is produced by the pancreas. Insulin is a conduit to transport sugar into your cells in which produce energy for your body. Additionally, other less severe ailments such as pancreatitis are directly associated with gall stones, metabolic disorders, infections, elevated triglycerides and digestive problems.
Excessive visceral fat (obesity) is a leading cause of many diseases including pancreatic disorders. If you are obese you are 45% more likely to acquire pancreatic cancer. It is well documented that overweight people are much more susceptible to diabetes. It probably goes without saying that it is to your advantage to control your weight, and by doing so maintaining a healthy blood sugar, improving insulin levels, triglyceride levels and reducing inflammation.
If you are overweight you need to lose the pounds, this is a must before you can ever hope for a healthy pancreas. Start by committing to a healthy lifestyle, one that involves a life changing transition from how you are now living to the life you want and need to live. A diet high in raw fruits and vegetables offers dual benefits of a healthier body weight and reduced pancreatic cancer risk. Once you have established a plan and implemented, then you should consider supplementing to augment your healthy diet and lifestyle. For example, digestive enzyme supplements can increase nutrient breakdown and absorption, thereby improving pancreatic sufficiency.
An effective protection against elevated triglycerides and glucose are natural blood sugar-balancing compounds such as bitter melon, vanadium, chromium and cinnamon to name a few.
Equally important for a healthy pancreas are antioxidants that fight free radicals which are directly tied to pancreatic cancer and pancreatitis. Some important pancreas-protecting nutrients are vitamin D3, Tocotrienols, Vitamin C, Lycopene, Beta-Carotene and drinking green teas. A sustained targeted supplement program can significantly reduce the risk of pancreatic disease.
I have written on many health issues over many years and I have found invariably that the root cause of disease is an incubation of bad decisions at an early age. If you are overweight it is a lifestyle decision that got you there (rare exceptions). You can blame whoever, whatever you want, but the bottom line is that you didn’t care enough to take care of your body. Pancreas health is no different than any other organ in your body when it comes to optimal health. All good health begins with a determined, unequivocal commitment to live the straight and narrow and yes….Healthy.
With increasing age the human bodies ability to sustain the reduction in immune function declines steadily. A white blood cell, T-lymphocytes (T- Cells), assists in fighting infections and also helps in maintaining an active immune response. As we age T-cells diminish thus weakening our immune system and allowing disease to get a foot hold more readily.
Tocotrienol a form of vitamin E may have an important role as a building block in maintaining immune function throughout a lifetime, a new study has concluded. There are 8 forms of vitamin E, 4 tocopherols and 4 tocotrienols. Within this research study young and old mice consumed either a regular diet or diet containing tocotrienols and alpha-tocopherol for a period of 6 weeks.
The study found as a general rule that lymphocyte proliferation (After lymphocytes encounter an antigen or foreign protein, they begin a process by which they rapidly reproduce themselves, so that there are many lymphocytes available which can recognize and fight the invading antigens.) decreased with the old mice fed a standard diet but the old mice fed a tocotrienols and alpha-tocopherol supplemented diet had a marked increase lymphocyte proliferation.
Some other important observations from the research study:
The young mice had more cytokines found in their spleen cells (chemical mediators) than the old mice. With that noted; The old mice which supplemented tocotrienols and alpha-tocopherol shown a high increase in cytokine interleukin-1-beta production which has proven to be an important mediator of immune function.
Additionally, Macrophages, a type of white blood cell created more inflammatory cytokines (Created primarily by immune cells that are engaged in the process of amplifying inflammatory reactions as a means of dealing with some sort of health threat to the body.) in old mice compared to the young mice. Also noted; both young and old mice which were given tocotrienols and alpha-tocopherol had an improved response in interleukin-1-beta.
In the studies conclusion the research team made this statement: “Together, these results suggest a beneficial effect of tocotrienols in improving the age-related decline in T-cell function.”
Once again research solidifies the preponderance of undeniable evidence that supplementing with Natural God given ingredients is the sensible way to protect your health.
The comparatively small thyroid gland is a major player in your health. If there is even a small altercation in the hormonal levels of this small gland, your entire body can be thrown into a frizzy. Balance is the key word when it pertains to the thyroid, unbalanced thyroid levels of stimulating hormone (TSH), triiodothyronine (T3), and thyroxine (T4) can affect your energy level, metabolism, cholesterol levels, menstrual cycle, and nervous system functions.
The most common thyroid disease in the United States is Hashimoto’s thyroiditis which is also an autoimmune disorder. Ironically, antibodies from your own immune system assaults the thyroid thereby limiting a vital thyroid hormone (hypothyroidism). This condition is more prevalent in women than men with common symptoms being, depression, muscle pain, weight gain, constipation, joint pain, infertility, dry hair, and increased cholesterol levels.
Conversely, on the opposite scale, when there is an abrupt increase in thyroid function (hyperthyroidism), another autoimmune disorder may occur called Grave’s disease. Grave’s disease happens when heightened thyroid hormone production takes place. This results as thyroid-stimulating antibodies begin to mimic a thyroid-stimulating hormone. Look for these symptoms: Heat intolerance; Weight loss; Rapid heartbeat; Frequent bowel movements.
We now know that our thyroid gland is important and not to be taken lightly but how do we effectively protect our thyroid from swinging off kilter. Remember balance is the operative word when we discus thyroid health. Well, fortunately there are essential nutritional supplements available to help you maintain a healthy thyroid gland. Let us take a closer look at which supplements are thyroid important.
L-Carnitine:
Amino acid derivative is an important player in mantaining proper energy metabolism. Reduced levels of L-carnitine may be responsible for the muscle weakness associated with patients suffering from both under active and overactive thyroids. Research studies show, that once thyroid function is stabilized, muscle carnitine levels and carnitine flow in the urine both return to normal. Clinical studies have indicated that L-carnitine supplementation can diminish even severe cases of hyperthyroidism.
Iodine:
High quality iodine supplementation may also help in reducing your risk of acquiring thyroid disorders. It is widely believed that iodine intake in America has dropped resulting in an increased risk of thyroid related disease (autoimmune). Daily iodine supplementation can reduce levels of harmful antibodies, although it is important to consult your doctor before implementing iodine supplementation.
Riboflavin and Niacin:
Supplementing with these B Vitamins can reduce thyroid hormones without inducing hypothyroidism or any of its negative symptoms. Riboflavin and Niacins perform as cofactors in the creation of your cellular energy (ATP) and in the change of iodide into iodine within your body.
Many times doctors are at a loss when confronted with a group of symptoms and find themselves at the mercy of endless tests that sometimes reveal no conclusive diagnosis. The thyroid gland is often overlooked as a serious cause of disease but frankly, it is a major player in your health. Make perfectly sure that your thyroid gland is optimally supplemented so that your auto-immune system is working properly.
We take breathing for granted and only think about the process when we are not getting sufficient air to our lungs and then we panic. Did you know 11,000 liters of oxygen-rich air per day is supplied by the breathing process? If you fail to supply your body with oxygen for approximately 6 minutes you will die. Pretty important stuff wouldn’t you say?
Chronic inflammatory conditions such as asthma, bronchitis and emphysema deprive vital oxygen from reaching our blood stream creating a dangerous scenario for anyone inflicted with these maladies.
Fortunately there is help in clearing the airways allowing generous amounts of air to get to and through your lungs. Eliminating
environmental pollutants is one important way as well as avoiding allergens and of course stop smoking. Another important consideration is supplementing with some key nutrients. Let us take a closer look at these supplements.First we have
Quercetin which is a Flavonoid (plant derived compound). Quercetin has shown to exhibit strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, particularly with the lungs. Extensive research studies reveal that Quercetin can reduce collagen and fibrosis deposits and assist in lowering amounts of TGF-1 a inflammatory protein in examples of pulmonary fibrosis. Lung conditions that link back to oxidative free radical damage may make Quercetin specially helpful.Secondly, we have Bromelain another vital lung maintaining compound. Bromelain is a natural enzyme derivative of pineapples.
Bromelain stimulates the discharge of anti-inflammatory prostaglandins and decreases the manufacture of pro-inflammatory mediators.Thirdly, good old Vitamin C can assist in proper lung function. Vitamin Cis an important construct of the lining of the lungs. Supplementing with Vitamin C can help fight many breathing problems. Low levels of Vitamin C have been linked to pulmonary dysfunction.
Another crucial lung supplement to consider is the naturally occurring detoxifying compound Glutathione.Deficiencies of this compound have been linked to higher possibility of lung damage and lung related diseases. Ample levels of Glutathione help the lungs resist and wash away pollutants that deprive the lungs from performing properly.
Lastly, we have a by-product of an amino acid called
L-cysteine, this derivative is named N-Acetyl-Cysteine, an important ingredient in maintaining great lung health. NAC is especially useful with lungs that have accumulated mucous and works in conjunction with Glutathione to assist in its production.Healthy lungs begin with environmental control and is assisted by the naturally conceived entities found in our lungs. When we are fighting a lung related disease it is prudent to follow your doctors advice and equally important to supplement with essential components to give your lungs the opportunity to heal naturally.
